The Committee

The committee are postgraduate students from Aberystwyth University who have worked together to turn their ideas for New Horizons into a reality. They will be at the National Library (and the other venues) for the duration of the conference, so any concerns or questions please direct them to one of the following:

Faisal

Faisal, from Iraq, has a technical diploma from the Institute of Medical Technology in Baghdad (1974), a B.Ed. (1998) and a Masters in English Literature (2003) from the University of Tikrit.  His PhD explores Arabic and Islamic Influence on W.B. Yeats's Poetry.

Lizzie

Lizzie came to Wales from Canterbury to be near the mountains and the sea. Her MA dissertation title is: 'Annie Dillard: Reading the Earth as a Text.' She is interested in exploring the significance of one’s internal and external landscape in the formation of identity.

Stephanie

Stephanie returned to Aberystwyth for her MA, her dissertation is: ‘Wild Women and the reassessment of Grand Narratives in Toni Morrison's “Neglected Fiction”’. She chose the topic as until now, there has been very little postmodern criticism on her work, apart from on Beloved.

 Keegan

Keegan is an American studying comic books in Wales, which is not as strange as it sounds. The running title for his PhD thesis is ‘Gutters, Frames and Signs: The Narrative Theory of Comics’.

Dan

Dan is a poet who studied for both his BA and MA at Aberystwyth. His presentation at New Horizons is titled: ‘Physics and Poetry: Translating Theory into Beauty’.
